I certainly agree that the launch sequence could be activated from controls within the pod itself. But I don’t think that precludes a scenario where there would be a redundancy system for launching one or several pods from within the bay. (Remember, these pods are a redundancy themselves.) Unlike the larger shuttles that our team first made for, there would not necessarily be a crewman aboard each small shuttle. So, launch capability from within or without the pod seemed a reasonable scenario to me. That was my thinking, at least. Thanks for keeping a close eye on things– keep me honest!

Er, why would the launch sequence to an escape pod be located OUTSIDE of it? I realize story reasons, but it does fail the “reality check” as it were.
