ZAPPCON 2015 This Weekend!
This weekend the Trekker Empire is on the march once again for our first-ever appearance in the Fresno environs! I’m excited to set up camp at the fresh, new ZAPPCON at Table AA37. Above is my rendering of the show’s icon, “ZAPP”. Several of my Periscope Studio mates will be there as well. We’ll set up a mini-Periscope Island and be on our very best behavior. On Saturday, we’ll e having a panel at 3PM talking about the studio– how it works, what we each get out of it, and why it’s simply irreplaceable for many of us as a workspace and as a comics community of our own. Drop by and say howdy– it’s going to be a fun weekend!
Thanks, Ron, for the chat Sunday at your table. Appreciated your insight and candor about the downs and ups of the industry over three decades. The omnibus was a great buy; a fine tale, of course, but also to see the growth in your storytelling and your publisher’s print quality. It’s a time machine on paper.
Enjoying the ongoing tale of Mercy St. Clair. So glad you revived the character.
Thank you, Jody. It was a pleasure to chat with you as well. Glad you found the Omnibus a good read– that’s the whole point of the exercise, of course! I know what you mean about the “time capsule” effect of the collection. I was learning– and hope I still AM learning– as I went along. and those evolutionary steps and missteps are all in there. As I’ve said all along, the thread that I hope holds it all together is the evolutionary journey of Mercy herself.
And as to the ups and downs over the years, they happen, no question, But getting back to telling the Trekker tales has definitely made this the best time of my career.
