Excalibur, the historic and still-thriving comics store here in Portland is celebrating 40 years in business this month. I’ll be there this Wednesday at 6PM to help commemorate the occasion, along with Steve Lieber, Celina Hernandez and Mike Murphey. Come on by! If you’ve never been to Excalibur, and you are a local resident, you really need to see this shop. They do “Old School” just right!

My first Denver Comic-Con last month was a terrific experience and a great success. Can’t wait to get back again next year and reconnect with a lot of you fans there. And meanwhile, September and October will see me on the move again, ready to bring the “Trekker Empire” to a comic con near many of the rest of you. The set-up will look much as you see above– posters, prints, books, original art and sketches all on display. The schedule as of now:
I doubt the Denver Airport will look quite like this by the time I arrive next month, but regardless– I’ll be there for the Denver Comic Con June 13-15! This looks to be a huge show with lots of guests from comics and the whole entertainment world. I’ll be there with all things Trekker. Looking forward to seeing many new faces!
The all-new “Train to Avalon Bay” trade paperback hits the bookshelves today– April 16! Featuring additional story pages, a second Trekker feature by Karl Kesel and me, and some amazing pin-ups by a bunch of grand cartoonists from Mark Schultz and Dustin Weaver to Steve Lieber and Ron Chan. Mercy and Molly embark on an ill-fated vacation, and end up fighting for their lives in the blasted wastelands beyond New Gelaph. This is the first of the all-new Trekker stories that I am getting back to after a far too-long absence, and I’m doing all I can to make each story social and to continue to have them all build upon the ones that came before. As far as I’m concerned, the biggest and best is yet to come. Check it out!
Even as this week marks the end of the “Avalon Bay”pages posting to the website, it sees the debut of the story in print– as the Dark Horse TPB makes its appearance at the the Release Party at Bridge City Comics here in Portland. The book comes out officially on April 16th, which just turns the party into a Pre-release event! I’ll be there with advanced copies on hand to sell, sign and sketch in. Come in, say hello, and pick up a shiny new copy of the first of the all-new TREKKER volumes in the works! And speaking of “all-new”, be here next Monday for the launching of Mercy’s next adventure: “Jekka“. While it begins in the shadows of New Gelaph, this time out Mercy gets entangled in events which will take her back into the stars. The tale will profoundly alter the course of her life, expanding her view of the world she moves in, and changing her understanding of who she is. It’s been a tale long in the telling and I can’t wait to begin sharing it with you. Be here!
