In an action/adventure series that’s always a consideration–keeping things moving while delivering the important information.

This time, he is, one can assume, cooking up something with Mercy. And I think you could make a case that, while still a desperate ploy, teaming up with Mercy is still a smarter move than the earlier choice. Still, whether it’s a smart enough choice to keep either of them alive remains to be seen, doesn’t it?
