Thanks, Paul. While I strive to make the concepts and settings of Trekker stories compelling, the real engine that drives a story, and that carries me along as a reader is always, ultimately, the characters. So, if I am able to make them “work” for the readers I feel I have accomplished the primary and fundamental task. I have a lot more to do with Mercy as I continue to trace her “arc” as a trekker and as a human being. Hope I won’t fumble the ball…to often!
Hey there, I feel like I owe you some positive feedback. 😛 But don’t worry, I’ll be as brutally honest as ever.
This book is shaping up very nicely, IMO. I’m impressed that you even managed to get me to like Paul* a bit – quite a difficult task (I’d like to ‘ship’ Mercy+Molly, despite it being obvious that it isn’t anywhere near plausible). The developments fit together, without being forced or too obvious. You even managed to get Mercy to think some deep thoughts without falling out of character (well, my idea of her character).
I hope what is to come lives up to the standard you’ve set.

* Comic Paul, that is.
