I didn’t realize Molly had figured out how she felt about Mercy, yet. It seems like Mercy was only just starting to think about Molly when she left on the Jekka trip. Have I been missing hints about Molly’s feelings this whole time?
Thanks for the comments, ninja1. I hope to let the characters’ actions do most to convey whatever it is they have or haven’t “figured out”. How clearly that all comes across to readers over time is up to my storytelling skills. I hope as things continue to unfold they will ring true enough for you. For better or worse, though, the next tale will be leaving this stuff hanging for a while as we have a diversion into a more classic noir/crime yarn for Mercy to work her way through. But do rest assured– the dynamics set in motion by the events of “Jekka” will be felt profoundly as the series goes on.
Thanks for the reply. I could imagine that maybe Molly might have solidified her feelings during Mercy’s absence, and maybe Mercy did the same. I was just hoping that I hadn’t missed something.
I am enjoying the story a lot. You are doing a great job. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Thanks, Wulf– that’s a tough thing to go for in this era of cynicism and irony– but I knew it was the tone I had to try to end this trip on. I’m glad it came across!

pg 8 and pg 22 of this chapter seem to indicate to me that Molly is still trying to figure it out…

Aww, so sweet and adorable.
