And so we reach the end of chapter two of the first Trekker story. I was a bit pleased with myself at the little twist we end on here revealing that Mercy has an uncle on the force. It’s the first glimpse into her family background. Mercy’s family history becomes more significant in the stories that lay ahead. But for now, it made sense to establish a special connection that Mercy could have on the police force. And the family tie would explain why Mercy, who seems constitutionally incapable of much in the way of trust, would be willing to do so in this case.

By this point in the work, I was getting more excited with the world and the characters, and with playing with light, shadow and texture to evoke an atmosphere. I was still largely making it up as I went along, but I was also getting more of a feel for what I was after.

Please note: I will be attending the New York Comicon this year, Oct 13-16. (Fear not! The daily Trekker updates will continue uninterrupted.) But if you are going to be at the show, please come by my home-away-from-home in Artist Alley, table I-8. My primary reason for being at the show will be to spread the word about trekkercomic.com. I’ll have a few fun give-aways as well as merch and art for sale. Hope to see you there. But either way, see you here tomorrow!
