    “Hold my jacket … ”

Is that said in the same spirit as “Hold my beer …”, just before the protagonist does something massively stupid?

Ha ha, well–something dramatic and bold, at any rate. Just how “massively stupid” I’ll have to leave up to you to decide for yourself! Lets just say, I think the story’s about to take an interesting turn.

I’m a vet, all “John Wayne” moves are massively stupid, by definition. 😉
Only in stories, do they not get the protagonist killed.
That said, this is your story and well done 😉

I hear you. It’s a balance to strive for– keeping things somewhat “believable” (within the context of a high-flying sci-fi comic), while also keeping them moving along at a brisk pace. A certain amount of suspension of disbelief is required, and I suppose that extends to the “normal” consequences that would usually follow the choices of most of our action heroes in comics, movies and TV shows. Glad you’re willing to tolerate a degree of that in our case here! My hope is that the characters are compelling and “relatable to” enough that it will keep us connected even through the improbable moments.

Hey, I write this stuff too. Yeah, I am also taking notes.
I just don’t do the artwork with my prose 😉

Notably, many a hero (fictional or otherwise) did something massively stupid… and not only survived, but succeeded (I’m aware that many more didn’t survive, but did succeed). Often, success (or is it dumb luck?) is the difference between the labels “idiot” & “hero.” Of course, sometimes they succeed because what they did was so massively stupid no one expected it.

I feel the fullness of the circle is coming.
