Nope– not good, and not particularly “fun” to write. But as I commented on elsewhere, I try to make the execution of these tough moments come across well enough that the hard scenes at at least rewarding as story points, and keep us wanting to read on.
Busy as I’ve been with this story, and preparing for the Kickstarter to fund its getting printed, and a few conventions, I haven’t yet made the time to watch Blakes 7.I do see it’s easy to find, so it will happen, eventually! And thanks again for pointing it out to me. So no, it wasn’t an inspiration for this scene. But probably both stories are pulling for the same source materials and inspirations of earlier tales, consciously or not. That’s been my own experience, anyway!
The stories do tend to give themselves a shape at times. I feel my job is to then execute it as well as I can. If I do well, even a scene that might not have a “surprise twist” can still be effective. Or so is my hope!
WAT
Welp.

Wonder if any of Blake’s 7….especially the last episode….influenced any of this?
Once you watched it, that is.

I knew that this was the way it would end. It had to. Plots sometimes have rules 😉
